Epson has just released a new projector that works with Android TV. The Epson EF-100 was first launched in a few countries last year, but the company has now announced its availability in the United States, along with the integration of Google’s TV-optimized platform. The news was made during the CES 2023 exhibition in Las Vegas this year.
Android TV’s availability has been gradually increasing to cover more devices and shapes. Because of its usage as a home theater, projectors have been a popular option for gadget manufacturers. Epson isn’t the first firm to produce an Android TV projector, but it claims that their model is the “first-of-its-kind” and is intended to provide the “ideal big-screen streaming experience.”
The Epson EF-100 smart streaming laser projector is equipped with 3-Chip 3LCD technology, which combines three chips to provide vivid and reliable images. The EF-100 can also project a display up to 150 inches in size with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Among the other noteworthy characteristics are:
- MicroLaser Array Technology is a kind of laser array that uses a small number of
- 2,000 lumens of illumination
- correction of a keystone
- Quick-access buttons on a specialized remote control.
Epson’s Android TV projector will be available for purchase in the United States later this month for $999.99. Additionally, customers may choose between a ‘white and silver’ or a ‘black and copper’ color scheme.
This isn’t your average Android TV projector.
While the Epson EF-100 is compatible with Android TV, it does not seem to be a standard Android TV setup. According to the company’s literature, this seems to be the same projector that was previously available, but with an Android TV dongle attached to the rear of the device. Epson, for example, refers to Android TV as a “built-in” function, despite the fact that the product descriptions indicate the presence of a “Android TV HDMI Dongle.” As do the pictures of “what’s in the package.”

If this is a standard dongle-based gadget that links to the projector through HDMI, the dongle may also be able to connect to other devices, such as televisions. In any scenario, the Epson EF-100 will provide customers access to the Google Play Store and the over 5,000 Android applications that have subsequently been adapted for the TV while using Android TV.
